3 posts in the establishment of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dibrugarh – 1 Office Peon, 1 Day Chowkidar and 1 Night Chowkidar. All three are unreserved. Each carries the same pay band of Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 52,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 3,900.

Eligibility

Candidates must possess the minimum qualification of Class VIII standard. IMPORTANT – candidates who have passed HSSLC or above are INELIGIBLE to apply for these posts, so this recruitment is closed to higher-qualified applicants rather than open to them. Candidates having special skills may be given preference on a need basis. The candidate must be an Indian citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India, and must hold a valid registration with the Employment Exchange of Assam. Candidates already in government service should apply through proper channel. Selection is by viva-voce test only – there is no written examination. The viva-voce date is notified on the official website only, no separate call letter is issued, and no TA or DA is paid for attending.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years. The upper age limit is 40 years for General candidates, 43 years for OBC and MOBC candidates, 45 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, and 50 years for candidates with benchmark disabilities, relaxable as per rules.

Applications are accepted OFFLINE only, in the duly filled Standard Form published in Part-IX of the Assam Gazette. The application must carry self-attested copies of all testimonials for educational qualification, age and caste, along with two recent passport size photographs, self-attested, one pasted and one stapled. The envelope must show the name of the post applied for in block letters on top, as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF …”, addressed to the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Near Phoolbagan, A. T. Road, Dibrugarh – 786001. The form may be dropped in the Drop Box at that office during working hours, or sent by post to the same address. The Drop Box closes after 5:00 PM on 31 August 2026 and the appointing authority is not responsible for postal delay. Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected outright, and canvassing by any means leads to immediate rejection.
