Vacancies
21 posts of Stenographer Grade-III in the Bengaluru Rural District Court unit – 4 backlog posts and 17 new posts. The 4 backlog posts are reserved as Scheduled Caste 2, Category-1 1 and Category-2A 1, two of them for women and two for candidates with a visual disability. The 17 new posts are distributed across the reservation categories with 10 unreserved, 4 for women, 2 for rural candidates and 1 for a candidate with a benchmark disability. This recruitment is subject to the final judgment of the Karnataka High Court in Writ Petition Nos. 200448/2025 c/w 17968/2025 and 3145/2023.
Eligibility
The candidate must have passed the Second P.U.C. examination, or hold a three-year Diploma in Commercial Practice or an equivalent qualification. In addition the candidate must have passed the Senior Grade typewriting and Senior Grade shorthand examinations in both Kannada and English conducted by the Department of Public Instruction, or hold an equivalent qualification. Knowledge of computer use is required for office work, and the candidate must pass a computer literacy test. Selection is on the combined percentage of the prescribed qualifying examinations and the skill tests, with a minimum of 50 marks required in each skill test; candidates are called for interview in a 1:5 ratio, and the interview carries 5 per cent of the maximum marks of the qualifying examination.
Age Limit
The candidate must have completed the minimum age of 18 years and be within the maximum age as on the last date fixed for submitting applications. The maximum age is 35 years for General Merit, 38 years for Category-2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, and 40 years for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Category-1. Government Order No. CASUE 262 SENENI 2025 dated 29.01.2026 grants a one-time relaxation of a further 5 years in the maximum age limit for candidates of all categories taking part in this selection process. Relaxations also apply to serving government employees, widows, ex-servicemen and candidates with disabilities under the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.
Application Fee
Rs. 200 for General Merit candidates and Rs. 100 for candidates of Category-2A, 2B, 3A and 3B. Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Category-1 candidates and candidates with a disability are exempt from the fee. The fee is paid through the Bengaluru Rural District Court website, and the last date to pay it is 15 September 2026 – the same day the application window closes.

Applications are accepted ONLINE ONLY, through the link on the Bengaluru Rural District Court website. The online window runs from 17 August 2026 to 11:59 PM on 15 September 2026. The notification states explicitly that applications submitted by any other route – in person, by post or by any other means – will not be considered. Unlike most Karnataka district court notifications, the fee-payment deadline here is the same day as the application deadline, not a day or two later, so pay the fee before the window closes. Candidates claiming a reservation must hold the prescribed certificate from the competent authority in the required form.
