Salary: Junior Clerk & Copyist and Junior Typist: Rs. 19,900-63,200 (Level-4). Stenographer Gr.-III: Rs. 25,500-81,100 (Level-7). Plus the usual D.A. and other allowances admissible to State Government employees from time to time.

Vacancies
48 posts in total. Junior Clerk & Copyist: 32. Stenographer Gr.-III: 7. Junior Typist: 9. Vacancies are distributed across SC, ST, SEBC and UR categories with a separate women’s quota in each, and there is 33% intra-reservation for women candidates. Reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes follows the Orissa Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Act, 1975; reservation for women, sports persons, ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities follows the relevant rules and government orders. Where no eligible woman candidate of a category is available, that unfilled vacancy is filled by a male candidate of the same category. The number of vacancies may increase or decrease, and the authority reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any time without prior notice. Appointments are subject to the final result of W.P.(C) No. 1273 of 2014, sub-judice before the Hon’ble High Court of Orissa.
Eligibility
Candidates must be a citizen of India, have passed at least the +3 examination or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university, have passed at least a Diploma in Computer Application from a recognised institute, and be of good character and sound health. Post-specific additions: Junior Typist requires a minimum speed of 40 words per minute in typewriting; Stenographer Grade-III requires a minimum speed of 80 words per minute in shorthand and 40 words per minute in typewriting. Candidates already in government service must inform their employer and obtain a No Objection Certificate. Selection is under the Odisha District and Civil Courts’ Judicial Staff Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2008, by a written examination in three papers – English (100 marks, 2 hours), Arithmetic (100 marks, 1 hour) and General Knowledge (100 marks, 1 hour) – then a Computer Science Test (Practical, 100 marks, 1 hour) and a Viva-Voce Test (45 marks). Candidates scoring 35% in each written paper are called for the practical test, up to ten times the number of vacancies in each category. The decision of the District Judge, Balasore on the result of the examination is final.
Age Limit
Over 18 years and below 42 years of age on the last date fixed for receipt of applications, i.e. 07 August 2026. The upper age limit is relaxed for reserved categories in accordance with the rules and government orders in force.

No fee for examination is chargeable for candidates applying for any category of posts. Candidates must, however, enclose two self-addressed envelopes properly stamped with Rs. 60/- each, for despatch of call letters by Speed Post or Registered Post.

Applications received after that date, or submitted other than in the prescribed manner, are summarily rejected. Enclosures include original character certificates from two different Gazetted Officers, Medical Practitioners, a Sarpanch or other competent authority; two self-addressed envelopes stamped Rs. 60/- each; a self-attested copy of the Employment Exchange Registration Certificate if any; and a self-declaration as specified in the notification.
