5 Junior Mentor posts in total, for the Innovation Hubs set up under the Scheme for Promoting Innovation, Creativity and Engagement of Science (SPICES): Electronics – 1 post at BITM, Kolkata; Electronics – 1 post at Digha Science Centre, Digha; Electronics and Life Science – 1 post in each discipline at District Science Centre, Purulia; Electronics or Physics – 1 post at Shrikrishna Science Centre, Patna.

Eligibility

Qualification: a minimum of a Master’s degree in Science or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with first class. Experience: one year of experience in a good teaching, research or industry background. Preference is given to candidates with laboratory, R&D or industry experience, or experience in a startup or incubation setting. Desirable: a good aptitude for hands-on activities and good experimental skills, participation in science fairs, hackathons or olympiads, and a passion for conducting investigative or innovative projects, model making, design activities and experiments, especially with students. The engagement is contractual, initially for one year depending on the requirement of the Innovation Hub, extendable on mutually agreed terms subject to satisfactory performance, and involves 45 working hours per week including Saturdays and Sundays.

Candidates are required to report at 9.00 a.m. sharp; the notification states that candidates reporting after 11:00 a.m., and those who do not fulfil the prescribed eligibility criteria, will not be allowed to appear.
