Job Summary

Position: Veterinary Officer (Pashuchikitsa Adhikari), through the Veterinary Officer Selection Examination 2026

Salary: Pay Level 10 (Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,77,500). The post is Group ‘B’ Gazetted, temporary, with contributory pension.

Eligibility

Essential educational qualification: (a) a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. and A.H.) from a university established by law in India and recognised by the Veterinary Council of India, or an equivalent degree from another institution recognised by the Government, or any other veterinary qualification as defined in section 2(c) of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 (Act No. 52 of 1984) as amended; and (b) the candidate must be duly registered with the Uttarakhand Veterinary Council. Under Uttarakhand Government letter No. 949/XV-1/2025-96554 dated 21 April 2026, the following are included as equivalent degrees: Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc.); Bachelor of Science (Vety.); Graduate in Veterinary Science (G.V.Sc.); Graduate in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (G.V.Sc. and A.H.); Graduate of Bengal Veterinary College; Graduate of Bihar Veterinary College; Graduate of Mumbai Veterinary College; Graduate of Madras Veterinary College; Madras Veterinary College graduate (G.M.V.G.); Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (M.R.C.V.S.); Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (B.V. Med. and B.V.M.); Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.); Bachelor of Science (Veterinary); and Bachelor of Veterinary and Animal Science (B.V.A.Sc.). Candidates must hold the essential qualification by the last date for submitting the online application, and the date of holding it is determined only from the marksheet issuing date or the result declaration date.

Age Limit

21 to 42 years. Age is reckoned as on 1 July 2026. Relaxation in the maximum age limit is allowed to candidates of various categories and sub-categories as per the Uttarakhand Government orders cited in the advertisement, including a relaxation of 5 years under the government orders referred to there. Candidates must record every reserved category and sub-category they hold in the online application form; the notification states that if a reservation claim is not made, the benefit of reservation will not be allowed under any circumstances.

Application Fee

Unreserved, Uttarakhand OBC and Uttarakhand EWS candidates: Rs. 150 application fee plus Rs. 16.36 processing fee with tax, total Rs. 166.36. Uttarakhand SC and ST candidates: Rs. 60 plus Rs. 16.36, total Rs. 76.36. Physically disabled candidates: no application fee, plus Rs. 16.36 processing fee, total Rs. 16.36. Orphan children of Uttarakhand: no fee of any kind. The fee is accepted only through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI; the notification states that a fee paid by any other means will not be accepted, and that an application will be treated as complete only after the fee is deposited. If a candidate does not deposit the prescribed fee, or deposits less than the prescribed amount, by the last date, the application will not be accepted.

Selection is through a written examination, with the Commission noting that the number of examination centres may be adjusted if the number of candidates is low.
